Great Prices On Used Clocks
Master Clock Repair often purchases used grandfather clocks from customers who are downsizing, upgrading, moving or simply do not want their clocks any longer. After purchase we repair the clock movement and clean the case to prepare the clocks for resale. Many of the clocks carry the same guarantee as new clocks. See the descriptions below for specific information about each clock as the guarantee can vary from clock to clock. When possible, our goal is to make the clocks available for a price equal to about half or less of what the current retail for that clock might be.
Regarding Clock Descriptions
Every attempt has been made to describe all clocks we sell as accurately as possible. Being in the clock business for 40 years gives us the experience to tell you what you really need to know about each clock, not just dimensions and features but about the conditions of the various critical components. Some dimensions are rounded up or down slightly. Any errors in descriptions, if they occur, are purely accidental and every attempt is made to check their accuracy and correct errors when they are noticed.
In order to offer a new clock warranty of two years we frequently will install a new movement into the clock in order to prepare it for resale. Periodically we will buy a clock where the original movement is still in excellent condition enabling us to also offer a two year guarantee. You may notice that some of the clocks below are shown for sale at two different prices. In these cases the original movement is still very functional but may show signs of minor to significant wear. In these cases we are giving the purchaser the option of buying it with the original movement at a significant discount and a lesser warranty OR with a new movement and a full warranty at a higher price. Any time the original movement is used we remove the movement from the case and perform a thorough hand cleaning, oiling, readjusting and full testing.
Regarding Retail Price Comparisons
Determining the retail price of a clock can sometimes be difficult once the clock has gone off the market. There are several ways that Master Clock Repair determines the retail prices used in the descriptions below. 1. Sometimes paperwork that accompanies the clock when we buy it indicates the retail price at the time of purchase. 2. Some retail prices for Howard Miller clocks can be obtained from their web site even for clocks no longer being made. 3. As a last resort we rely on the current retail value of clocks with similar quality, function and features that we are able to find for sale on the internet along with our extensive experience from repairing clocks, selling clocks and having worked extensively with clock retailers over the years.
The final consideration is that a clock made in 1980 for example could not possibly be made and sold today for the same price that it sold for 34 years ago. Because of this we often use an inflation adjusted figure when we specify a retail value for comparison purposes. Of course, large ticket items rarely sell at full retail prices. Most people when buying a new grandfather clock should expect to obtain a final selling price at 20-30% off of the actual manufacturer's suggested retail price. For this reason we attempt to price our clocks at 50% or less than the retail price and frequently far less than that. What we actually pay for the clock and the repairs we need to perform in order to guarantee the clock directly influence how low we are able to price a clock for sale. When we buy it for less we are able to sell it for less. If we cannot get it for a price that allows us to sell the clock at a deep discount we will not buy it.
Delivery and Shipping
Most of our clocks are sold locally to clock lovers in the Central-Ohio area and local area delivery is available for an additional fee. If you live outside of Ohio the clock can be shipped to you but often for a fee too high to be practical. When possible it is recommended that you find a way to drive to our location for direct pick up in order to enjoy our extremely low prices and avoid high shipping fees.
